BACKGROUND
Initial
Robotech Master mecha designs for the Zentraedi were massed produced with little
thought placed in the defensive capabilities of the unit. The Masters
believed that mass quantities of units alone would intimidate most
cultures into submission. As such a majority of the Zentraedi designs were
meant to be easily massed produced with little though placed in the defensive
capabilities of the units.
After the initial battles with the Disciples of Zor and the
continuing conflict with the Invid, the Robotech Masters came to the realization that quality
possesses its own quantity. The Masters had always valued their officers
more than the common soldiers by providing them more advanced and capable mecha
and therefore it was no surprise that the first updates to the Zentraedi arsenal
would be to the officer's mecha.
The Robotech Masters designed their combat officers with
sufficient aggressiveness that often commanders of Zentraedi battlefleets would
join their troops on the front lines, this was later demonstrated with Khyrons
abandonment of the bridge for the glories of the cockpit. The second
upgrade to the standard Glaug officer pod was the Gilouza Glaug Commander
Pod. The Gilouza was even more heavily armored than the Ex Glaug.
The only short range weaponry was the addition of two Glatrlan Diwhaug short
range missile launchers designed for defensive purposes only. Otherwise,
the Gilouza is armed with extremely long range, greater than 10 kilometer,
particle beam cannons and laser weaponry. Due to the incredible
energy requirements needed to fire all of the energy based weaponry two
Xot'zerr-7c-DCr protoculture generators were added to the mecha. Even the
addition of two generators limits the number of weapons that a pilot can fire at
any given time. The main weapon of the Gilouza is a top mounted T'zer
Liomentro laser cannon which is capable of firing 30 MJ laser burst out to
20 kilometers.
The Robotech Masters commanded that those who are given the
honor of piloting these mecha are too valuable to to die in simple mecha
combat, as a result they are commanded to remain at least 10 kilometers behind
the front lines and use the long range laser and particle beam weaponry to
attack their enemy from a distance. Only five were built and all were
included in Commander Kergen
Krashavera's border fleet. All were believed to have been destroyed during
the Ebolian conflict, as a result the actual combat statistics are only
estimated by REF intelligence.
An RPG supplement for Robotech
Crystal Dreams will be released by Robotech Research in the near future
(estimated release date March 2001)

NOTES:
-
(*) Destroying the sensor eye of the Gilouza Glaug will knock out the mecha's major sensor
systems, including all of the optics systems (infrared, nightvision,
thermal) and radar; however, communications will be unaffected.
Attackers are -6 to strike
-
(**) Destroying the engine thrusters will reduce the top
speed of the Gilouza Glaug by 50% in the atmosphere. Destruction of both
thrusters will cause the mecha to crash in the atmosphere and reduce the pod
to thrusters only in space.
-
(***) Destruction of the main body will destroy the mecha.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:
- 1 x T'ZER LIMENTRO ASSAULT LASERS LASER: The Gilouza Glaug
mounts an advanced assault laser on the top of the unit instead of the
traditional particle beam cannons found on other Glaug models.
Particle beam cannons lose their coherence due to the inherent repulsion of
the charged particles themselves. As a result, particle beams have a
maximum range of 15 kilometers. Although the T'Zer has a lower damage
potential than a similarly configured particle beam, it is capable of firing
30 MJ of laser energy accurately up 20 kilometers. The Z'zer is
powered by its own Xot'zerr-X-7 micro protoculture generator which can
provide power for up to 20 shots per minute.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: 20000 m
- DAMAGE: 3D4x10
- RATE OF FIRE: Up to 5 times per melee
- PAYLOAD: Unlimited
- 2 x MAKRAL TSZIKATRO-07c PARTICLE BEAM CANNON: Two Makral Tszikatro 05 particle beam
cannons are mounted in either arm. These weapons are the carbine
version found on the Ex Glaug, hence they have a lower damage potential and
a lesser maximum range. Both of these weapons fire particle beam with yields up to
30 MJ out to 9,000m. The weapon is powered directly from the mecha's main
energizers and can fire at up to 20 times per minute.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: 9000 m
- DAMAGE: 2D6x10
- RATE OF FIRE: Up to 5 times per melee
- PAYLOAD: Unlimited
- 2 x MAKRAL MARTSZUR-4 (PB-10): Two Makral Martszur
particle beam cannons are mounted in both arms of the Gilouza Glaug under
the Makral Tszikatro particle beam cannons. Each cannon fires 9.5 MJ of particle energy
every second; however, do to energy constraints the Makral p-beams can not
fire simultaneously with the upper Makral partical beams.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: 1200 m
- DAMAGE: 1D4*10 MDC per single blast
- RATE OF FIRE: Equal to the total number of H-to-H attacks
- PAYLOAD: Unlimited
- 2 x GLATRLAN DIWHAUG SHORT RANGE MISSILE LAUNCHERS: Two
short range missile launchers are mounted on either side of the main body.
Each launcher holds 12 short range Maggot universal dogfight missiles.
The incorporation of missiles to the Gilouza Glaug is for defensive purposes
only.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
- SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
- RANGE: Varies typically 10 km
- DAMAGE: Varies with warhead, typically 1D6*10 MDC
- RATE OF FIRE: One at a time or in volleys of 2, 4, 6, or 12
- PAYLOAD: 12 per launcher for a total of 24 short range missiles
- HAND TO HAND COMBAT:.
- Restrained Punch 1d6*3
- Full Punch: 2d6*3
- Power Punch: 2d6*3+12
- Tear or Pry: 1d6*3
- Kick: 1d6*3
- Leap Kick: 2d6*3
- Body Block/Tackle: 2D6*3.
- Stomp: 1d4*3 MDC (only effective against small objects)
STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR GILOUZA GLAUG:
- COMBAT COMPUTER: The combat computer can identify and track 48 targets.
- X-BAND VBPS3-SS RADAR: The Gilouza Glaug possesses a long
range X-band radar with a range of 250 km
- EXTERNAL AUDIO PICKUP: Range: 300 ft (91.5 m). A sound amplification system that
can pick up normal conversation up to 300 feet away.
- HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life
threatening heat and radiation. A radiation detection and alarm system are linked with the
shields and will sound an alarm if there is a rupture in the shields and what the levels
of radiation are.
- LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: Range: 50 miles (160 km). Used for increased accuracy in
the striking of enemy targets and is partly responsible for the mecha's strike bonus.
- LOUDSPEAKER: A loudspeaker system is built into the craft, which can be used to
amplify the pilot's voice up to 90 decibels.
- OPTICS: NIGHTVISION: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive light image intensifier
that emits no light of its own, but relies on ambient light which is electronically
amplified to produce a visible picture.
- OPTICS: THERMAL IMAGER: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive optical heat sensor
that detects infrared radiation projected by warm objects and converts that data into a
false-color visible image. The system enables the pilot to see in the dark, in shadows,
and through smoke, and also adds a +10% bonus to pilots using a tracking skill.
- OPTICS: Telescopic optics (x10 magnification)
- VBPS3-SS: Radar Warning Receiver (RWR)
- VBPS3-SS: Infra-Red Warning Receiver (IRWR)
- RADIO/VIDEO COMMUNICATION: Long range, directional communications system with
satellite relay capabilities. Range: 600 miles (960 km) or can be boosted indefinitely via
satellite relay.
- LOW POWER BROAD BAND SENSOR JAMMER: These systems can be used to jam both sensors
and missiles; however the Zentraedi systems are no where near the effectiveness of the REF
or the Robotech Masters
- VBPS3-SS: Active sensor jammer
- VBPS3-SS: Chaff and flare dispenser, 50 chaff and 50 flares are
stored in each leg.
COMBAT BONUSES FOR GILOUZA GLAUG
